Texas has a lot of “unique” waste transportation registration requirements not found in other states, including registrations for transporters of scrap tires, regulated medical waste, sludge (grit trap/grease trap/septic), industrial waste, and used oil. Because of these various and specific regulations and statutes regarding waste transportation, waste hauling in Texas can be a tricky endeavor, and if you aren’t careful, you could find that you are using an unauthorized transporter. Even during an emergency spill response effort, an authorized and registered transporter must be used for the spill-related waste – no exceptions.
